london
Thirty-six hours in the capital were enough to have me reaching for the Blake. Join me for a while in ‘London‘.
Read MoreHello all. A reminder that I’m taking part in an online reading on Tuesday 14th September, at Flight of the Dragonfly. You can get tickets at the site. I’ll be reading some pieces from my next collection, hungers, as well as some which are already out there in the world. Be lovely to “see” you if you can come.
Gosh, more stuff on the interweb: I’m writing a guest post for fellow-poet Nigel Kent, who is also going to review shades of blue. Nigel will shortly be a guest columnist here for us. I know he’s going to be introducing a poet new-to-me, so I very much look forward to that.
In the meantime, my piece will be up on the 17th April, and will look at one a poem from shades of blue and how it relates to my work in general. I’ll be saying the kind of stuff I’d normally have been saying at readings over the last year as I introduced the book. It’s nice to have a chance to do that. Go to Nigel’s site on the 17th to read my post.
Yes! An actual event happening (albeit online). I’m sharing an evening on Homestage with Oz Hardwick, who’s also published by Hedgehog press: a one-hour meet-the-poet and hear some work read live. It’s on Tuesday 13th April 8-9pm GST, and you can come to the event simply by clicking here. It would be lovely to have you join us!
I took down the “events” page from this site in about May last year. Reading and other engagements were cancelled, of course, and though I’ve taken part in some online launches and Youtube events, it’s not the same as meeting in person. Sharing a room and a poem with others has a real magic in it, and forgoing that has been one of the many losses of The Current Situation; tiny, perhaps, but real. As Cilla might have said, there’s a lorra lorra lemons about at the moment.
